Rularoo is a game. It has no accounts, asks for no name, no email address and no password, and it never sees a payment detail. This page describes the little it does collect, why, and how to have it deleted.
What is collected
A device identifier
The first time you play, a random identifier is generated on your device and kept there. It is sent with every request so the service can recognise the same player again, which is what lets a streak survive closing the app and lets a half-played puzzle be resumed. It is generated by us, not by Apple or Google: it is not an advertising identifier, it cannot be used to track you across other apps or websites, and it is not shared with anyone for that purpose. Deleting the app, or clearing your browser storage on rularoo.com, discards it, and the next visit is a new player.
What you did in the game
Against that identifier we store the puzzles you opened, the sequences you probed and their verdicts, the rules you committed to, the hints you took, and your per-tier streaks. It is what the game is: a score, a streak and a results screen cannot exist without it.
Usage analytics
We record events describing how the game is played: a puzzle opened, a probe submitted, a hint taken, a commit made, a subscription screen seen. These carry the device identifier, which tier you were playing and how many probes you used. They never carry the secret rule, the sequences you typed, or anything you wrote.
Analytics are processed by PostHog, acting for us as a processor. On rularoo.com these requests are served through our own domain, so no third-party script runs on the page and no third-party cookie is set. PostHog receives your IP address as part of the request; we do not use it to locate you beyond the country-level view their product shows.
Technical data
Our web server keeps ordinary access logs, which include IP addresses, for a short period. An IP address is also used briefly as a rate-limiting key to stop one machine flooding the service; those records are deleted daily.
Subscriptions
Rularoo Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple takes the payment; we never receive your card details, name or billing address. Apple gives us a receipt, which is verified and recorded by ZapNPay, our own purchasing service, so the game knows whether you are entitled to Pro. What is stored is the fact of a subscription, its tier and its expiry, against the same device identifier.
What is not collected
No name, no email address, no password, no contacts, no photos, no location, no advertising identifier, no health data. There are no adverts in Rularoo and no advertising networks in it. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with data brokers.
There is one place a name can appear, and it is worth being exact about. When you share a puzzle you have solved, you may optionally add a name so the person you send it to knows who they are trying to beat. That name is kept on your own device and travels only inside the link you hand over yourself. It is never stored on our servers, never sent to analytics, and left out of our access logs. Nothing here can tell you who sent a challenge; only the link can, to whoever receives it.
Who else sees it
Three processors, each doing one job for us: PostHog for analytics, Apple for payment, and our own hosting provider. Nobody else, and no data is transferred for anyone else's purposes.
How long it is kept
Game history and streaks are kept while the game is running, because a streak is a claim about a long stretch of days. Rate-limit records are deleted daily. Analytics events are retained by PostHog under our account's retention setting. Ask us to delete your data and we delete it.
Your choices
Because there is no account, the device identifier is the only thing that links records to you. To have everything associated with it erased, email us the identifier and ask; we will delete it. On the web you can clear site data for rularoo.com at any time, which discards the identifier immediately. In the app, deleting the app does the same.
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase your data, or to object to its processing. Ask, and we will do it. We do not require an account to make a request, and we do not charge for one.
Children
Rularoo is rated for all ages and contains nothing unsuitable, but it is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top changes and the app's store listing is updated to match.
